Do you want to teach?

🍏Do you feel you have what it takes to become a successful teacher?

🍏Do you want to pass on your skills & passion to other therapists?

🍏Do you want a side hustle to run alongside your therapy business?

🍏Or would you like to make a career as a teacher in the beauty, massage, complementary therapy or sports industry?

🍏Do you want to accredit your own courses or work at a training school or college?

🍏This course can be studied, taught and assessed online, in the comfort of your own salon / home. (You will need your own students to carry out your microteach assessment.)

What is this course?

The VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF), formerly known as PTLLS (Preparing to teaching in the life long sector), is a qualification for those interested in a teaching career in further education or for those who have recently started teaching.

Our course has been specifically designed for those wanting to teach in the beauty industry. This award is designed to equip a wide range of teachers/trainers and facilitators with the requisite skills and knowledge required to fulfil a teaching role. During this course you will learn about preparation, planning and basic course design. You will also learn teaching delivery skills and participate in a micro-teaching session. Evaluation skills and techniques also form part of the course content. This qualification provides a sound introduction to teaching/training and is suitable for both experienced practitioners who would like to secure a professionally recognised qualification as well as those new to teaching. The VTCT Level 3 Award in Education and Training will enable you to work in a teaching role and advance on to a broader teaching qualification.

What teaching opportunities would this provide for you?

Here are a few examples:

🍏 Employers of teachers and trainers (including colleges of further education, independent training providers, local authorities, the third sector, the military, uniformed services, young offender institutions, prison education and the probation service) 

🍏 Human resource (HR) managers and line managers 

🍏 Staff development managers 

🍏 Newly employed teachers and trainers and existing staff 

🍏 Course providers and teacher educators 

🍏 Those considering teaching as a career

This knowledge-based teaching qualification has no minimum teaching practice requirement and therefore may be taken by individuals who are not in a teaching role, but want to be. However, there is a minimum requirement to take part in micro teaching (peer teaching) which involves planning an observed and assessed teaching session for a specific group of learners (usually the peer group of classmates), delivering and reviewing the session and responding to feedback from the observer and the ‘learners’. Trainee teachers who are already in a teaching role may be able to use their usual workplace teaching for this observed teaching session. If you are not in a current teaching role, you could teach within our centre to complete your microteach, or another centre near you, or create and run a workshop in your own environment.
