Accreditation, Qualifications & Professional Membership

At Holistic Therapies Training Academy, our courses are recognised through a combination of accredited training programmes and nationally recognised qualifications.

This allows our students to:

✔ Gain professional qualifications
✔ Obtain therapist insurance
✔ Work professionally in the industry
✔ Join professional membership organisations

Each course page will clearly state which accreditation or awarding body applies to that course.

Qualification Routes

We offer two main types of qualification routes depending on your goals, experience level and the time you wish to commit to training.

VTCT Qualifications

VTCT stands for Vocational Training Charitable Trust.

VTCT is a government-approved, Ofqual-regulated, awarding body that provides regulated vocational qualifications within the beauty, holistic and sports therapy industries.

These qualifications are:

• Nationally recognised
• Regulated qualifications
• Often required by employers, salons and clinics
• Eligible for professional insurance and membership

VTCT courses usually involve:

• Practical training days
• Assessments
• Coursework and a portfolio
• Case studies
• Sometimes written exams

Because of the additional coursework and assessments, VTCT qualifications typically require more study time than accredited courses, but they provide a higher level of formal qualification within the industry.

More information can be found at:
https://www.vtct.org.uk

Accredited Courses

Our accredited courses provide a fast-track route into many therapies.

These courses are verified by recognised professional accrediting bodies, allowing students to gain insurance and practice professionally once qualified.

Accredited courses usually involve:

• Practical training attendance (often 1–2 days)
• Home study using the course manual
• Completion of a question paper
• Case studies where required

These courses are ideal for:

• Self-employed therapists
• Therapists adding additional treatments to their menu
• Students wanting to qualify quickly in a specific therapy

Which Qualification Should You Choose?

The best option will depend on your personal goals.

VTCT Qualifications may be best if:

• You plan to work in salons, spas or clinics
• Your employer requires regulated qualifications
• You want a more in-depth learning experience
• You may continue into higher level qualifications

Accredited Courses may be best if:

• You are self-employed or starting your own business
• You want to add new treatments to your existing services
• You want to qualify quickly
• You prefer short practical training courses

If you are unsure which option is right for you, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to guide you.

Professional Membership & Insurance

Many of our courses allow students to obtain professional insurance and membership with industry organisations.

Some organisations offer both professional membership and insurance policies.

Examples include:

• The Complementary Medical Association (CMA)
• Associated Beauty Therapists (ABT)
• Professional Beauty Direct
• International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT)
• International Practitioners of Holistic Medicine (IPHM)

Some specialist courses may also allow students to apply for membership with specific professional associations, depending on their training and experience.

For example:

Our Level 3 Reflexology qualification may support applications for membership with the:

Association of Reflexologists (AoR)

However, membership with the AoR is not automatic, and students must contact the Association of Reflexologists directly to confirm whether the course meets their current membership requirements before enrolling.

Not all courses are accredited by all of the organisations listed above.

Online & Distance Learning Courses

We offer a range of online and distance learning courses which allow students to study from home.

These courses are designed to:

• Expand your knowledge

• Provide refresher training in the comfort of your own home
• Introduce new therapy techniques
• Allow flexible learning around work or family commitments

However, practical experience is extremely important within the therapy industry.

For this reason, we recommend that students:

• Gain practical experience wherever possible
• Check their insurance requirements before enrolling
• Continue developing their practical skills after completing online training

Some insurers may require hands-on practical experience before providing insurance, so it is important to confirm this with your insurer.

Important Information

Before enrolling on any course, students must ensure that:

• Their chosen insurer will cover the qualification
• The course meets any insurance or membership requirements they may have
• They check with any professional membership organisations they intend to join

Professional organisations and insurers may have their own criteria which can change over time.

It is the student’s responsibility to confirm this before booking, as refunds cannot be issued if an insurer or organisation later decides not to cover or recognise the qualification.

Choosing the Right Training Course

When choosing a training course, we recommend that you consider the following:

• The experience and qualifications of the tutor
• The training venue and learning environment
• The accreditation or awarding body
• Course attendance requirements
• Case study requirements
• Insurance eligibility

At Holistic Therapies Training Academy, our tutors are experienced therapists and educators who are here to support you both during your training and after you qualify.

We pride ourselves on offering ongoing guidance, mentoring and support to help our students build successful therapy careers.
