Insurance Information for Students

One of the most common questions we are asked is about insurance while training and after qualification.

The good news is that insurance is usually straightforward, but it is always the student’s responsibility to check with their insurer before enrolling on a course.

Checking Your Insurance Before Booking

Before enrolling in a course, please check with your insurance provider that they will cover the qualification you are taking.

Different insurers may have slightly different requirements, such as:

• Minimum training hours
• Practical training requirements
• Case studies
• Accreditation or awarding body requirements

Because of this, we cannot guarantee that every insurer will cover every course, which is why you must confirm this with them before booking.

Student Insurance While You Are Training

If your course requires practice treatments or case studies, we recommend that you hold student insurance while you are studying.

Student insurance typically covers you while:

• Practicing treatments
• Completing case studies
• Working on friends, family, or models

Student insurance is usually very affordable, costing around £20–£30 for the year.

Many insurers allow you to upgrade your student insurance to full therapist insurance once you qualify.

If You Already Have Therapist Insurance

If you already hold therapist insurance, you will usually be able to add your new qualification to your existing policy once you have completed the course.

You provide your insurer with:

• Your certificate
• The course accreditation details (listed on the course page)

Recommended Insurance Providers

While we cannot recommend a specific insurer, many of our students choose providers such as:

Professional Beauty Direct - (https://online.professionalbeautydirect.co.uk)

Associated Beauty Therapists (ABT) - (https://www.abtinsurance.co.uk)

Balens - (https://www.balens.co.uk)
Westminster Indemnity - (HTTA referral link (introductory discount): https://uk.westminster.global/?Introducer=8004)

The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) - (https://www.fht.org.uk/insurance

Each provider offers different levels of cover, so we recommend contacting them directly to find the policy that suits your needs.

Important

It is the student’s responsibility to check insurance requirements before enrolling on a course.

Refunds cannot be issued if an insurance provider later decides they will not cover the qualification.
