From Salon to Educator: Why I Became a Teacher in the Beauty & Holistic Industry

Where It All Began
My journey in the beauty and holistic world started not in a classroom, but with a small online shop selling aromatherapy oils and products. That love for wellbeing soon grew into hands-on training, and before long, I was working as a beauty and holistic therapist, offering a wide range of treatments.
I loved my work, but like so many therapists, I also knew the challenges: long hours, the physical demands of treatments, and the feeling of being limited by trading time for money.
The Turning Point
As rewarding as therapy work was, I felt a pull towards something more. I wanted to share my passion in a way that could make a bigger impact — not just on individual clients, but on people who wanted to build their own thriving careers.
That’s when I realised my true calling: teaching.
The Spark to Teach
Teaching gave me the chance to:
Share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of therapists.
Empower people to create their own successful careers and businesses.
Build more balance and freedom in my own life, while still doing the work I loved.
It wasn’t just about delivering treatments anymore — it was about multiplying the impact by helping others step into this industry with skills, confidence, and support.
How Teaching Changed Everything
Becoming a teacher didn’t just transform my career; it transformed my life. It gave me:

The ability to diversify my business and create more stability.
A new purpose through Holistic Therapies Training Academy, which has since grown to offer accredited training, digital products, and memberships like The Aromatherapy Geek.
And now, I’m on a mission to help other therapists do the same — to move from salon to educator, so they too can share their skills, create more freedom, and build something bigger than themselves.
