FAQ - Frequently asked questions

How do I become a teacher or trainer in the therapy and beauty industry?

Experienced therapists, beauty professionals and other vocational practitioners can use their existing industry knowledge as the foundation for moving into teaching and training. An education qualification such as the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) can provide an entry route into vocational teaching, depending on the role and organisation you want to work with.

What teaching qualification do I need to teach beauty, massage or therapy courses?

The qualification required depends on where you intend to teach, the type and level of courses you want to deliver, and the requirements of the organisation or awarding body involved. HTTA offers teaching qualifications including the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) and Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET).

Can I complete a teaching or assessor qualification online?

Yes. Holistic Therapies Training Academy offers selected teaching, assessor and internal quality assurance qualifications through flexible online learning. Assessment and evidence requirements vary between qualifications, so check the individual course information before enrolling. Our regulated courses with Focus Awards offers the flexibility of completing the courses online via live video training and assessments.

What is the difference between AET, CET, CAVA and IQA qualifications?

AET introduces teaching and training skills, while CET supports further development within education and training. CAVA is an assessor qualification for assessing vocational achievement, while IQA focuses on internally assuring the quality of assessment. The right qualification depends on whether you want to teach, assess learners or work within internal quality assurance.

How do I progress from therapist to teacher, assessor and IQA?

A possible vocational education pathway is Practitioner → Teacher → Assessor → Internal Quality Assurer (IQA). You don't necessarily need to complete every qualification in that exact order. Your pathway depends on your existing qualifications, experience and the role you want to undertake. HTTA can help you identify the most appropriate next step.
